Mike McNamee

Mike McNamee is a Graduate Mechanical Engineer with 25 years of industrial experience and a Fellow of both the Royal Photographic Society and the British Professional Photographers Association. His career combines engineering, scientific imaging, photography and digital imaging technology, giving him a particularly strong technical understanding of the photographic process.

Mike has won numerous national and international awards, including the Struers International Award for his work in digital image analysis. His photography has been published and used worldwide in encyclopaedias, textbooks, scientific journals, calendars, magazines, newspapers and CD covers.

He has been involved with digital imaging since its early development and has lectured throughout Europe and America on specialised photographic and imaging techniques. He has also authored numerous reports, books, scientific papers and patents, and spent 15 years serving on the British Standards Committee for Engineering Ceramics as an Imaging Specialist.

Mike has extensive experience in photography education and digital imaging, having developed the MousePushers digital imaging courses through Pixelmix Digital Training and taught photography and digital imaging at Priestley College in Warrington. He was previously Editor of Digital Photographer and Creative Imaging and is currently Editor of Professional Imagemaker, the magazine of The Societies of Photographers. His ongoing work includes colour management and digital workflow, as well as the practical application of imaging technology in photography.
