Powerful Studio Portraiture with Ease

Creating advanced depth, detail, shape and form in your images.

Elevate your work, stand out from the crowd, and give yourself an advantage in both business and art.

Damian McGillicuddy

Spend a day with your Societies only Double barred Grand Master and holder of 17 POTY titles, and learn the techniques, and tricks to add more depth and dimension to your imagery.

To get the very best from this day you need to have a fundamental understanding of how to add supplemental light, If you’ve enjoyed the Societies “Fundamentals of Lighting “ day, this is the perfect next step.

The aim of great photography is to use light to create shape, form and texture, to tell a three dimensional lie, in a two dimensional medium, is always our aim.

Together we will look at:

  • Staging and utilising foreground, mid-ground and background in our designs.
  • Techniques for using background lighting to add separation and depth in an image.
  • How “kickers” and “accent” lights can elevate your imagery.
  • Why the movie industry LOVES a “Carving” light, and why you should too.
  • Why Adding an “egg crate” grid to your lights can make all the difference.
  • How to have fun with “flags” in your studio, and how to use them for best effect.
  • Choosing and controlling the “Key”, what works best, and how to manipulate it.

All of these little nuances will lift and elevate your images, taking them to the next level, and giving you and your photography that advantage in the market place or competitive arena.

Come and enjoy the “Edutainment” learn and grow, give yourself the BEST chance of developing, understanding, and comfortably using new skills that will almost certainly give you more skills to pay the bills…

This is a hands on day, please bring a camera, a short zoom and if you have one a Godox / Pixapro trigger.  We have triggers for most makes on site, but if you bring your own you will find the day runs a tad smoother with more camera time.
