Sigma Announces New 50mm F1.4 CL DG Contemporary Lens

Sigma has announced the new 50mm F1.4 CL DG Contemporary, a compact, lightweight prime lens combining classic styling with modern optical technology.

Designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras, the lens features a bright F1.4 aperture and an all-metal construction, offering photographers a distinctive balance of portability, performance and traditional handling.

The new lens introduces Sigma’s CL series, with an optical design intended to deliver softer textures, smooth background blur and natural tonal gradation, making it particularly suitable for portrait and everyday photography.

Key features include a newly developed RDD (Rotary Direct Drive) autofocus system, dedicated aperture and focus rings, a depth-of-field scale and a dust- and splash-resistant construction.

Available in Sony E-mount and L-Mount versions, the Sigma 50mm F1.4 CL DG Contemporary is scheduled for release in early spring 2027, with pricing yet to be confirmed.
