Vanguard launches ALTA SKY 68T roller backpack for long-lens photographers
Vanguard has introduced the ALTA SKY 68T, a new 42-litre roller backpack designed for photographers carrying large professional camera kits and long lenses.
Designed as a development of the ALTA SKY 68, the new model combines the flexibility of a traditional camera backpack with the convenience of a wheeled case. Photographers can roll their equipment across smoother surfaces and switch to backpack mode when the terrain becomes more challenging.
The ALTA SKY 68T is designed to accommodate a professional full-frame or DSLR camera with an 800mm f/5.6 lens attached, alongside up to seven additional lenses or personal equipment. It also features space for a 16-inch laptop and 13-inch tablet, as well as a full-sized tripod.
For rolling, the bag features a wide dual-bar handle and four replaceable ReGlide wheels, designed to provide smoother movement across pavements and venues. When conditions become less suitable for wheels, the backpack harness system allows photographers to carry the equipment comfortably.
The bag provides full front access to the equipment, with security clips allowing wide top access to a camera with a long lens attached. Its 42-litre capacity is larger than the 34-litre ALTA SKY 68, while its internal dimensions measure 360 × 200 × 580mm.
Constructed from 1000D/600D polyester, the ALTA SKY 68T also comes with a full-coverage rain cover. The bag weighs 5.5kg and is covered by a two-year manufacturer’s warranty, which can be extended to ten years when registered with Vanguard.
The Vanguard ALTA SKY 68T has a UK RRP of £350 and is available from August 2026.
The ALTA SKY series originally launched in 2017 and has since evolved to focus increasingly on photographers working with long lenses. The range now includes models designed for everything from APS-C and mirrorless systems through to professional full-frame cameras and lenses up to 1200mm.
