The Societies' Photographer of the Year Awards 2019

The Societies of Photographers are pleased to announce the overall winners of their Monthly Image Competition.

Dr Fong Chan Onn from Malaysia was awarded the coveted Photographer of the Year by The Societies for the second year running during the Awards Dinner at their annual Convention. Over three hundred guests were present at the Presentation Evening in London during the January Convention.

The judges commented, “This image and its huge impact held the judge’s attention for a long time. You can almost smell the smoke in the room. A travel image that will stand the test of time.”

The competition is a truly international success with entrants from all four corners of the globe entering monthly.

Dr Fong Chan Onn says “I am greatly humbled to have won the trust of the judges.”

He continues “I have learnt a great deal from the judges decisions. What makes a good photo and what transforms it in to a great photo. This award will further inspire me to work even harder”. 

2019 has been another incredible year for The Societies of Photographers’ Monthly Image Competition, with 11,320 images entered throughout the year.
