Sony Unveils New FX5 Cinema Line Camera

Sony has announced the launch of the new FX5, the latest addition to its acclaimed Cinema Line, offering filmmakers and content creators a powerful combination of advanced imaging technology and enhanced workflow features.

The FX5 features a newly developed full-frame stacked CMOS image sensor delivering more than 15 stops of dynamic range, along with three base ISO settings and Dual Gain Shooting for outstanding image quality across a wide range of lighting conditions.

For the first time in the Cinema Line, the FX5 introduces Open Gate recording and internal 16-bit X-OCN RAW recording, providing greater flexibility for professional production workflows. The camera also supports recording at up to 5K 60p, 4K 120p and Full HD 240p.

Additional features include AI-powered Real-time Recognition Autofocus, improved image stabilisation, a new 3.5-inch high-brightness touchscreen monitor, and optional accessories including a detachable OLED viewfinder and XLR audio handle with 32-bit float recording capability.

The Sony FX5 is available to pre-order now, with deliveries expected to begin in August.
