, Nikon Introduces New Firmware Development for Z6III: Enhanced C2PA Compliance for Better Image

Nikon is pleased to announce the development of its latest firmware for the full-frame mirrorless camera, the Nikon Z6III – which introduces a brand-new feature called Content Credentials.

This feature, based on the standards set by the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), is designed to help protect the authenticity of its users’ images and ensure peace of mind. With Content Credentials, Nikon aims to make it easier for photographers to safeguard their work by preserving the original, unaltered data of each photo taken. This functionality will help verify image authenticity and protect users’ rights.

The firmware is currently being tested by news agencies and other professionals to ensure it integrates smoothly into their workflows. It is scheduled for release to select agencies in mid-2025 – with broader availability to follow. Offering an exclusive first look, the Z6III, equipped with this upcoming firmware, will be displayed at the Adobe MAX 2024 Creativity Conference, taking place on the 14th – 16th October. Nikon is committed to developing solutions that comply with the C2PA standards, aiming to protect individuals and enterprises in the imaging industry, as well as society, from the adverse effects of fake images and unauthorised use. Nikon will continue to address the ever-evolving challenges surrounding image authenticity, working towards a future where everyone in the imaging industry can pursue their artistic and professional endeavors with confidence and peace of mind.
