Rotolight Secures £3.5 Million Funding To Further Ambitious Growth Plans
Award-winning British technology company, Rotolight, who specialise in creating advanced LED lighting for the cinematography, broadcast and photographic industries, has secured £3.5 million in growth finance from Clydesdale Bank. The funds will provide growth capital to deliver on Rotolight’s global expansion plans, continued investment in research and development to drive an extensive new product pipeline, and enforcement of its extensive IP portfolio.
“The Rotolight team has a bold and ambitious vision for the future of studio and location LED lighting, and we are thrilled to be working closely with them at such an exciting time,” says Ross Goodwin, Director, Growth Finance at Clydesdale Bank. “The growing need for content driven by the continued success of Netflix, Amazon, Disney and others combined with an established feature film industry provides a continuously growing demand for Rotolight’s innovative products which are already favoured by filmmakers, broadcasters and photographers globally. It’s also a real coup for British manufacturing that Rotolight’s supply chain is kept predominantly within the UK to ensure quality is not sacrificed.”
Clydesdale Bank was particularly impressed by Rotolight’s extensive portfolio of over 50 patents and designs; including user customisable cinematic lighting effects (CineSFX™) and the world’s first electronic diffusion technology, SmartSoft™ which saves creatives time and money on set. “Rotolight benefits from a particularly impressive IP portfolio,” comments Goodwin. “We are keen to see how this latest round of funding will help push the business forward.”
Widely recognised as a leading innovator in the sector with over 30 awards for innovation and technical achievement, Rotolight has been utilised on numerous feature films such as Skyfall and Captain Phillips starring Tom Hanks, as well as by leading broadcasters including the BBC, ITV, Formula 1, Netflix and Disney.
“We’re delighted to have partnered with Clydesdale to secure the growth funding to deliver our ambitious expansion plans over the next several years. We have been extremely impressed by the Growth Finance team and their understanding of our vision for the business,” says Rotolight CEO, Rod Aaron Gammons.
