The Photography Show 2020

The Photography Show and The Video Show – the UK’s largest photography and moving image co-located event – returns to Birmingham’s NEC from 14-17 March 2020. Whether experienced professionals or budding enthusiasts, visitors can benefit from an exclusive first look at the sector’s very latest launches in cameras, drones, lenses, kit, accessories and more. Here, we round-up just some of the new launches to expect at show.

Following the UK government’s briefing, the Health Secretary has stated that there are no current plans to cancel any mass gatherings (events) in the UK, therefore The Photography Show & The Video Show will be going ahead as normal.

First look at cameras and camcorders

Perhaps the most hotly anticipated launch comes from Canon, which has confirmed the ground-breaking EOS R5 will make its public debut at The Photography Show 2020. Visitors will be able to get an exclusive first look at the full frame mirrorless camera built on the revolutionary EOS R System.

The EOS R5 features unrivalled high-speed, high-resolution, 8K video and unparalleled image stabilisation – allowing photographers and filmmakers to push creative boundaries harder and capture action better than ever before.

As part of the LUMIX series, Panasonic will showcase two of the industry’s smallest and lightest 4k 60p professional camcorders.

This month, Sony is due tolaunch a new G LensTM series, the FE 20mm F1.8 G, adding to its extensive range of native full-frame E-mount lenses. Available for visitors at show, the new model is compact, lightweight, and ultra-wide prime – the widest full-frame prime lens in the E-mount line-up.

Canon will also display the RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM – the latest lens to join Canon’s RF line-up for the EOS R System. The camera giant has announced it is developing a total of nine RF lenses scheduled for release in 2020, including the RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM and compatible Extender RF 1.4x and Extender RF 2x.

Welcoming attendees to its stand, Panasonic will showcase the recently launched LUMIX S PRO 70-200mm F2.8 and LUMIX S PRO 16-35mm F4 L-Mount lenses for the LUMIX S Series full-frame mirrorless system.

Global optics brand, Samyang Optics will reveal the compact and lightweight XEEN CF 16mm T2.6 and 35mm T1.5 cine primes for PL, Canon EF and Sony E mount, completing the line-up of 5 XEEN CF models.

Get your hands on kit yet to hit the market

Mac Group Europe will debut a host of exciting new photography and videography kit at the event this year from its stable of brands. Highlights include a first look at: Benro’s brand new iFoto tripod kits and S Pro video heads, offering a whole new design, improved performance and a multitude of innovative features; Shimoda’s forthcoming Action X system including Action X30 and X50; and Saramonic’s latest Blink 500 system – a versatile clip-on wireless mic that can be used with video camera or smartphone.

Earlier this month, ShiftCam, a global mobile photography gear company, announced the launch of its MultiLens Case for the iPhone 11. The compact, integrated MultiLens iPhone case switches lenses in fractions of a second, incorporating 4x Telephoto*, 10x Macro, 20x Macro* and 180-degree fisheye lenses, plus a CPL filter to polarise ultra-wide photos.

Two brands will launch their products for the first time at show: ZHIYUN will unveil a new concept Gimbal with unprecedented payload and modular design that aims for a wider range of applications; while Flaghead Photographic will launch the new TetherTools AirDirect – a product which wirelessly transfers RAW and JPG images to the user’s software as it they were shooting with a cable.

Intrepid Cameras – the world’s largest modern manufacturer of large format cameras – is set to exclusively demo the prototype of its new ‘Intrepid 8×10 Enlarger Kit’ at the show, as it gears up to launching it on Kickstarter. The kit features an innovative light source attachment which will transform the Intrepid 8×10 camera into a fully capable, and portable darkroom enlarger.

Another company showcasing its latest prototype is adventure photography backpack manufacturer, Nya Evo; on display will be prototypes of its newest pack, the Fjord 26. Vitec Imaging Solution will also showcase its new collection of premium photography backpacks: The Manfrotto Chicago collection. Elsewhere, Fig bags will reveal its new camera harness with padded shoulders straps, safety lines and handmade leather, and new Hanborough backpack, both of which come in five colours.

Exclusively at this year’s show, 1901 Fotografi will launch its new ‘Robert Frank’ wrist strap named in homage to the great photographer Robert Frank who passed away last September. Initially only available at The Photography Show 2020, the ‘Robert Frank’ is a minimalist wrist strap with the option of having the size of the wrist loop custom-made to order.

Just Limited will showcase two new accessories: the easyCover Lens Oak, a neoprene camouflage lens covers for wildlife photographers; and the Dust Aid Light Wand, a Sensor cleaning tool for dust which features a built-in light.

The latest in printing and photobooks

Mitsubishi Electric recently launched the brand-new, low-price CP-M15E photo professional printer for those who want to enjoy the top performance and quality of Mitsubishi Electric Photo Printing technology at a very reasonable price. Attendees to the show can get their hands on this affordable and high-quality sublimation printing technology that is suitable for professional use.

Ready to be explored is Fujifilm’s new CX3240 Creative Duplex Printer technology, which can create memorable double-sided and borderless greeting cards, calendars, invitations, postcards, and other card-based products.

Earlier this year,Citizen Systems revealed the Citizen CZ-01 – hailed as the world’s first ‘prosumer’ 4″ photo printer. The printer will be bought to show by Photoxport, which is also launching two new event printing solutions including an exclusive mirrored photo booth built to fit the compact CZ-01 and a green screen event solution.

Hosted by Tetenal, the Epson D800 inkjet printer will be making its debut at The Photography Show 2020 – the only place visitors will be able to see this printer in action. Replacing the D700, the new model is a major leap forward with a number of added features.Replacing the D700, the new model is a major leap forward with a number of added features.

In addition to an array of new products for the UK market on display, WhiteWall Media will launch its latest product – WhiteWall Masterprint – which will be printed seamlessly and face-mounted under a single piece of 4mm acrylic glass. This new fine art paper printing system designed especially for WhiteWall is the first and only Fine Art pigment ink-based printer in the world capable of prints 180cm wide.

Artibo – the innovative printing lab that specialises in photo-publishing, low-volume photo book printing, fine-art printing and portfolio materials – launched its online shop for European customers just this year. At show, visitors will be able to see how it combines the latest printing technologies and bookbinding artistry into exceptional selection of photobooks and fine art printing products.
