Introduction to Judging Workshop Tour 2019

A first for The Socieites of Photographers, as we took the Introduction to Judging course on tour, and what a week it was!

Headed up by Competition Executive and Judge Terrie Jones, whose passion for photographic judging has become somewhat infamous within the industry over the past sixteen years, the tour started in Hatfield and moved up the country stopping at Coventry, Hull, Newcastle upon Tyne and Glasgow.

During the workshop, delegates went over the 10 elements of an award-winning image, etiquette and elocution, the scoring categories and definitions, and got to put it all in to practice with a practical session of live print judging.

Terrie Jones said, “I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who attended the Introduction to Judging workshops. It was fantastic to share my knowledge with five groups of photographers, all eager to improve their knowledge on the subject.”

She continues, “I’m sure everyone has left with a greater insight to the judging process and also a new respect for how much effort the judges put in to judging each image.”

The Societies are now planning a new Introduction to Judging tour for 2020 and details will be announced on our website with in due course.
