New research explores the changing needs, challenges and priorities of photographers and imaging professionals

The photography industry continues to evolve rapidly, with changes in technology, social media, client expectations and the way photographers build their businesses all having an impact.

Now, photographers and imaging professionals are being invited to share their experiences and help provide a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the industry today.

A new independent research survey is exploring how photographers work, how they find clients, the challenges they face and the support they would value as the industry continues to change.

What are the biggest challenges facing photographers today?

The survey looks at a wide range of topics, from how photographers generate their income and attract new clients to the role that social media plays in their businesses.

It also explores how photographers use their cameras and other equipment, their approach to video, their future purchasing plans and what influences their equipment decisions.

Importantly, the research also asks photographers directly about the challenges they are currently experiencing and what support they would find most valuable from imaging brands.

Participants are also invited to share their views on the types of workshops, webinars and educational content they would find most useful.

Your experience matters

Whether photography is your full-time profession, a significant part of your income, or you are developing your career in the industry, your experiences can help provide a broader picture of where photographers are today.

The research is looking at photographers and imaging professionals across a range of genres and working environments, recognising that there is no single experience of working in today’s photography industry.

The survey also looks at the changing relationship between photographers and social media, including how it is used for finding clients, sharing work, networking and inspiration.
