Announcing the Animal Behaviour Photography Competition

, Announcing the Animal Behaviour Photography Competition

We’re excited to invite photographers of every level to enter the Animal Behaviour Photography Competition, a celebration of the remarkable ways animals interact, communicate, adapt and survive.

This category is about more than a beautiful animal portrait. We’re looking for photographs that reveal a story: a fleeting moment of connection, a display of instinct, a playful interaction, a hunt, a family bond or the quiet resilience of wildlife in its natural environment.

Whether your subject is a wild predator, a garden bird, an animal in motion or the relationship between people and nature, this is your opportunity to share an image with meaning.

What to capture

Entries can explore animal behaviour in all its forms, including:

  • Feeding, hunting and survival
  • Courtship, parenting and family bonds
  • Play, movement and social interaction
  • Communication and emotional expression
  • Wildlife, landscapes and ecosystems
  • The relationship between people and nature

The most memorable images often go beyond the obvious. They capture a challenge, an emotion, a relationship or a moment that helps viewers see the natural world differently.

Entry details

Entry is just £1 per image, and you can enter as many images as you like. This is a chance to showcase your creativity, share your perspective and have your work seen by a passionate photography community.

Make your image stand out

A strong entry does not need to be dramatic or rare, it needs to communicate something. Look for behaviour that tells a story: an animal caring for its young, competing for territory, adapting to its surroundings or simply sharing an unguarded moment.

Consider thoughtful presentation too. Subtle editing, careful cropping and a strong composition can help your image make a lasting impression while keeping the animal’s behaviour at the heart of the photograph.

No one will protect what they don’t care about; and no one will care about what they have never experienced.” – David Attenborough

Through powerful visual storytelling, we can inspire greater appreciation for wildlife, ecosystems and the world around us.
