Nature Photographer of the Year 2013
Winner: Chris Blaser
An image captured in a difficult shooting environment and an unusual subject matter executed extremely well.
Lake of Geneva is a very hard subject to work on from under water. Except for winter time, the visibility is often very bad. Also, the approach in dense vegetation is a struggle. After many tries, Chris captured this Tench during the reproduction period in may. Tench are very shy and go away as soon as you take your breath or make any noise. It had three passages, approaching each time to be close enough to be taken in portrait.
