I have worked as a professional photographer for over twenty years and obtained a Fine Art degree at Falmouth School of Arts in 1994. Previous to that I received a degree in Marine Biology from Portsmouth University and worked as an ecologist before commencing my photographic career.
I began as a reporter and photojournalist for regional and national newspapers and then combined this with a practice as a wedding and portrait photographer.
From 2006 until 2016 I ran my own portrait studio in Bath, UK and also developed a commercial photography arm to this business.
My clients for this latter business included English Heritage, Furneaux Stewart, Vivienne Westwood, English Heritage, Shamrock V, Zagal Ltd, Citroen, Rolls Royce, Thomas Murray, Bath Thermae Spa, Dents, Steneby Skolen, Sweden, Yachting World, Classic Boat, and Mylor Harbour Foundation.
My artistic work has been exhibited and published in group shows including the Royal Photographic Society and at various galleries including University of the Creative Arts, Farnham, Whitewall Gallery, Milton Keynes, Falmouth Art Gallery, Bo-Lee Gallery, Bath & London and Bath Fine Art, Bath.
My last completed project “At the going down of the sun” was exhibited at Bristol Cathedral and was the Cathedral’s main commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the end of the 1st World War. For this project I worked in collaboration with The Royal British Legion, The Commonwealth War Graves Commission and a variety of other organisations.
The project received sponsorship from CWGC, The Royal British Legion and The Heritage Lottery Fund.
The exhibition was visited by 100,000 people and received extensive, regional, national and international press and media coverage.
I have judged for a number of these bodies and I am a Qualified International judge for The Societies.
I have been published widely.
My work was included in the book “Frameworks” in 2011 and I have written articles for The Imagemaker, Camera Craft, The Master Photographer, Selvedge Magazine and various newspapers.
I am currently a PhD Doctorate,(Photography) researcher at The University of Gloucestershire as well as running my own freelance business.
