Ready for a portraiture class that pushes boundaries? This 4-hour Superclass is all about taking portraiture to wild colourful new places. We’ll be diving into the world of long exposures with Kris Anderson, using continuous lights, strobes, and even throwing in some colored gels and gobos. Get ready for some seriously cool results – chaotic, colourful, full of movement – very different from your average portrait!
This class is for you if you’ve got your camera and have a basic handle on camera settings. We’ll be learning how to paint with light during long exposures, understanding how to control brightness and colour in a long exposure image. We’ll also add strobes to freeze movement, and create excitement between your subject and the background. Plus, we’ll conquer the world of colored lights to create bold pops of color, all while teaching you how to avoid that dreaded color washout.
Then comes the fun part – putting it all into practice! We’ll set up different lighting combos using strobes and continuous lights, white light and gels, to create a variety of stunning looks. We’ll introduce gobos – plates that give a specific shape to focused light, letting you illuminate parts of a subject and adding a whole new dimension to your work. Once you’ve seen how these lighting tools interact with one another, you’ll be ready to push the boundaries of portraiture.
Finally, to wrap things up with a bang, Kris will share the secrets behind his Icon Grand-Award in-camera image – a mind-blowing circular long exposure captured in one shot! Kris will break it down step by step, show you the equipment he used to capture the image in one shot – and then try to recreate it ourselves. See? Easy!
So, if you’re ready to unleash your creativity and capture extraordinary portraits full of colour and movement, grab your camera and join Kris for this epic Superclass!
