Gavin Maxwell

Gavin Maxwell is an award-winning filmmaker, photographer, writer, and lecturer based in the South West of the UK. A Fujifilm GFX Challenge Grant Award Winner, Gavin’s work spans documentary, environmental, and expedition storytelling, bringing powerful real-world narratives to life through compelling visuals.

His photography has been selected for prestigious exhibitions including the RPS International Print Exhibition and the British Journal of Photography’s Portrait of Britain. His television experience includes major global productions such as the triple-Emmy-winning BBC series Wild China, as well as Japan: Earth’s Enchanted Islands and Nile.

Gavin has co-authored two books — Nile and Wild China — and written for BBC Wildlife Magazine. As a lecturer, he has spoken on filmmaking, photography, and environmental issues at the Royal Geographical Society, SOAS University of London, and the RGS in Hong Kong.

His wider client and collaborator list includes the BBC, National Geographic, PBS, and the Royal Geographical Society, taking him to some of the world’s most remarkable and remote landscapes.

Deeply interested in humanity’s evolving relationship with the natural world, Gavin’s work blends art, science, and storytelling to inspire curiosity, connection, and conservation.
