The LUMIX S1II is meticulously crafted for professional photographers and videographers. The highly-regarded Open Gate feature now supports formats beyond 6K30p, enabling 5.1K60p, thereby broadening creative possibilities for users. A future firmware update promises the addition of multiple frame marker displays for further enhancing creative flexibility.

The LUMIX S1IIE, forming another part of the second-generation S1 series, maintains the celebrated design and ergonomic excellence of the S1II and S1RII, offering potential for creative exploration. It is equipped with a 24.2MP sensor inspired by the characteristics of the LUMIX S5II, thus ensuring exceptional image quality tailored for diverse shooting conditions.
Panasonic is pleased to introduce the LUMIX S 24-60mm F2.8 (S-E2460) lens based on the L-Mount system standard.

This newly added lens to the LUMIX standard zoom lineup features a large aperture of F2.8 throughout its versatile zoom range. Its unique compact and lightweight design enhances mobility, making it an ideal choice for dynamic landscape and architectural photography, exploiting the 24mm wide-angle perspective, as well as for capturing beautifully bokeh-rich portraits at the 60mm focal length. Additionally, with the Hybrid Zoom feature, you can extend your zoom range up to 187mm for both photos and videos. The large aperture of F2.8 provides high-resolution performance and exquisite bokeh across the zoom range, enabling fast shutter speeds and minimizing subject blur even in low-light conditions.

By optimizing the lens configuration and minimizing the filter diameter, along with the introduction of newly developed Dual Phase Linear Motor and a new optical encoder, the lens achieves its compactness and light weight with a total length of approximately 99.9mm and a mass of about 544g, while also delivering high-speed, high-precision AF performance. Versatility is further enhanced by an equipped focus button on the lens barrel, facilitating intuitive shooting and allowing customization of preferred features assigned to the button. Additionally, it is the first in the S series to support the control ring assignment, enabling use of the focus ring as a customizable control ring for key settings such as aperture control, and exposure compensation.

Moreover, it has outstanding video production capabilities, such as advanced optical design and an optimized internal barrel structure that effectively suppress focus breathing. Also, in high-contrast scenes, micro-step aperture control enables smooth F-stop transitions, preventing sudden exposure changes. Starting at 24mm wide-angle, it is also an excellent choice for video, offering exceptional versatility in a single lens.

The LUMIX S-E2460 will be available in June 2025 for RRP £899.00

Panasonic is pleased to introduce the LUMIX S5D, a new hybrid full-frame mirrorless camera that achieves excellent performance in both video and photo as well as exceptional flexibility for videographers and photographers.

Based on the compact design of the LUMIX S5D, the refreshed S5D comes DJI LiDAR AF ready. When the S5D is paired with DJI LiDAR Range Finder Module and DJI RS 3 Pro Gimbal, distance measurement information is sent to the camera via USB, and the camera drives the focus, so no focus motor is required, enabling easier handling with a more compact size and greater freedom of shooting. Furthermore, there is no need for lens calibration adjustments, which saves setup time. Thanks to the LiDAR’s high-speed 43,200 ranging points within a 14-meter distance, extremely fast AF is realized, which is also effective when shooting in low-light conditions.

Furthermore, LUMIX S5D contains all of the features appreciated in the LUMIX S5D, including a 24.2-megapixel 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor that boasts wide dynamic range and high sensitivity performance, and realises a maximum ISO 51200 of crystal-clear high sensitivity video with Dual Native ISO technology.

The S5D will be available from the end of October for RRP €1,599 / £1,399 for the kit which includes the LUMIX S Series 18-40mm F4.5-6.3 lens, or RRP €2,099 / £1,799 for the kit which includes the 20-200mm F4-7.1 lens.

Exceptional video recording performance for cinema-quality film creation

The LUMIX S5D delivers superb video performance and is capable of 4K 60p/50p 4:2:0 10-bit, and 4K 30p/25p 4:2:2 10-bit internal recording up to 30 minutes. It is also capable of 4K 60p/50p 4:2:2 10-bit HDMI output. For 4K 30p/25p 4:2:0 8-bit internal recording, there is no time limit.

In addition to C4K video recording, the LUMIX S5D is capable of RAW video data output to ATOMOS NINJA V over HDMI at a resolution of 5.9K (5888×3312) 29.97p/25p, 4.1K (4128×2176) 59.94p/50p and Anamorphic 3.5K (3536×2656)/50p. A variety of video recording assist functions such as the Vector Scope Display, Master Pedestal Adjustment and SS/Gain Operation(SEC/ISO, ANGLE/ISO, SEC/dB) are also available.

The LUMIX S5D delivers 14+ stops of dynamic range, virtually the same as those of the Panasonic cinema cameras, to precisely reproduce everything from dark to bright areas. The ability to capture accurate colours and skin tones is a must for any filmmaker. The LUMIX S5D imports the renowned colour science of Panasonic’s VariCam line-up of cinema cameras, as well as V-Log / V-Gamut.

With Slow & Quick mode, impressive video slow and quick motion in 4K (1-60fps, 30x quick to 2.5x slow) or in FHD (1-180fps, 60x quick to 7.5x slow) is available.

High image quality even in low light situations with Dual I.S. to suppress blurring

The LUMIX S5D boasts a wide dynamic range and reproduces sharp images with exceptional clarity. Noise is minimised even when shooting at maximum ISO 51200 high sensitivity, making it an ideal camera to use in low-light situations.

The LUMIX S5D features Dual Native ISO sensitivity, a technology that was first introduced in the Panasonic professional cinema camera VariCam line-up. Normally, noise increases as sensitivity rises with a single native ISO image sensor. However, the image sensor with Dual Native ISO in the S5D minimises noise generation by choosing an optimal circuit to use according to the sensitivity before gain processing. As a result, it allows a maximum of ISO 51200 high sensitivity recording. Dual Native ISO gives film creators a greater variety of artistic choices as well as the ability to use less light on set, saving time. The LUMIX S5D’s Dual Native ISOs are 640 and 4000.*1

The LUMIX S5D integrates the Body I.S. (Image Stabiliser) for powerful handshake correction. Panasonic developed an algorithm that precisely calculates shake information acquired not only from the gyrosensor, but also from the image sensor and accelerometer sensor. This enables more accurate shake detection and compensation, making it possible to use a 5-stop slower shutter speed*2. Combining the Body I.S. (5-axis) in the camera and the O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabiliser, 2-axis) in the LUMIX S Series lens the 5-axis Dual I.S.2 compensates for blurring, allowing the use of a 6.5-stop slower shutter speed*3.

It is highly beneficial in telephoto shots and in adverse situations, such as in low-light or one-handed shooting. The 5-axis Dual I.S.2 works for both photo and video recording, including 4K. The Body I.S. compensates for camera movement even when other L-Mount lenses without O.I.S. are used.

*1 When recording mode is set to V-Log. The sensitivity varies depending on the recording mode.
*2 Based on the CIPA standard [Yaw/Pitch direction: focusing distance f=60mm when S-R2060 is used.
*3 Based on the CIPA standard [Yaw/Pitch direction: focusing distance f=200mm when S-E70200 is used. Firmware must be updated to the latest version.

Reliable and flexible for optimum creative freedom

The compact LUMIX S5D boasts outstanding mobility while still achieving exceptional performance. To withstand heavy field use, the LUMIX S5D is composed of a magnesium alloy full die-cast body and is splash/dust-resistant*1. With an optimum layout of heat dispersion components, heat is effectively transferred outside which results in stable, continuous video recording for long periods.

The LUMIX S5D has a large LVF (Live View Finder) with a high magnification ratio of approx. 0.74x, as well as a high-precision, high-speed OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) display which features a 2,360K-dot high resolution. Adoption of OLED for the LVF achieves high speed response with minimum time lag of less than 0.005 sec. With an eyepoint of approximately 20 mm, it offers high visibility with comfort for users wearing glasses.

A 3.0-inch free-angle LCD in 3:2 aspect with 1,840K-dot high resolution provides touch control. Composition during recording in various popular aspect ratios such as 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 4:5, 5:4 and 9:16 can be checked with the Frame Marker function. A REC Frame Indicator identifies whether the camera is recording or not.

The LUMIX S5D has a double SD Memory Card slot – one slot complies with UHS-I and the other with the high-speed, high-capacity UHS-II (Video Class 90).

The camera’s battery can be recharged either via AC or USB according to the user’s convenience.

*1 Dust and Splash Resistant does not guarantee that damage will not occur if this lens is subjected to direct contact with dust and water.

Panasonic is proud to announce two new hybrid full-frame mirrorless cameras, the LUMIX S5II and S5IIX, as the latest additions to its LUMIX S Series camera line-up. The LUMIX S5II and S5IIX are the first LUMIX mirrorless cameras to utilize Phase Detection Auto-Focus (PDAF) thanks to a newly developed 24.2-megapixel 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor and a new imaging engine. Developed under the L² Technology alliance formed by LEICA and LUMIX last year, the new imaging engine provides high resolution, natural description, and approximately 2x higher-speed signal procession for high bit-rate video recording. To further the cameras’ PDAF capabilities and make them more dependable, Panasonic evolved the auto-focus system into Phase Hybrid Auto-Focus by increasing the AF points to 779 to significantly improve subject tracking. Once the S5II and S5IIX are locked on a subject, the auto-focus will continue to track the subject, even in adverse lighting conditions and when multiple objects are moving within the frame. Additionally, continuous AF during zooming1, AF micro adjustments, and options to decrease the size of the AF area are available.

The LUMIX S5II and S5IIX have a powerful image stabilization system for wide-ranging shooting conditions and situations. The Body I.S. (5-axis) in the LUMIX S5II and S5IIX i and the O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer, 2-axis) from the LUMIX S Series lens were combined to create the 5-axis Dual I.S. 2, maximizing the correction power to allow 6.5-stop slower shutter speed.2 The 5-axis Dual I.S. 2 works for both photo and video recording, including 4K. In addition, Active I.S. has been added for even more stable video recording. Active I.S. optimizes the horizontal, vertical, and rotational correction ratios by determining the status of camera shake. As a result, the performance of the image stabilizer can account for a larger amount of camera shake at approximately 200%3 compared to conventional image stabilization. This capability is highly beneficial in adverse situations, such as handheld filming or telephoto fixed-frame shots.

The new imaging engine provides the LUMIX S5II and S5IIX with high video performance comparable to the LUMIX S1H. They provide 4:2:0 10-bit 6K (3:2) / 5.9K (16:9), unlimited 4:2:2 10-bit C4K/4K recording capability.4 With a new heat-dispersion mechanism, there is no limit on recording time to avoid overheating.5 HFR (High Frame Rate) in C4K/4K (48p), FHD (120p), Slow & Quick motion in C4K/4K(1-60fps) / FHD(1-180fps) are also available. The LUMIX S5II and S5IIX contain 14+ stop V-Log/V-Gamut capture to deliver a high dynamic range and broad colors. Plus, a REAL TIME LUT function is provided to enable color grading on the compatible video and photo in camera by applying the LUT(.VLT/.cube) saved in the SD memory card. Users can perform intended color grading on the spot without postproduction and share images online through social networking sites. This function can be used for livestreaming.

Packing the essence of LUMIX S Series cameras into a compact, lightweight body, the LUMIX S5II and S5IIX have further evolved to meet the demands of all creators. The LUMIX S5II is $1,999.99 and will be available in January 2023. The LUMIX S5IIX is $2,199.99 and will be available in May 2023.

Panasonic is pleased to introduce a new cost-effective ultra-wide-angle zoom lens, the LUMIX S 14-28mm F4-5.6 MACRO based on the L-Mount system. The LUMIX S Series offers three budget-friendly lenses including the LUMIX S 14-28mm F4-5.6 MACRO (S-R1428), LUMIX S 20-60mm F3.5-5.6 (S-R2060) and LUMIX S 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 MACRO O.I.S. (S-R70300) to cover 14mm ultra wide-angle to 300mm telephoto. All of these lenses achieve high optical performance and stunning mobility fit to LUMIX S5 series cameras for both photo and video.

The LUMIX S 14-28mm F4-5.6 MACRO is comprised of 14 lens elements in 10 groups including one aspherical ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lens, one aspherical lens, three ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lenses and one UHR (Ultra High Refractive Index) lens. The use of aspherical lenses realizes both high descriptive performance and beautiful bokeh. The three ED lenses effectively suppress chromatic aberration. Despite its compact size and approximately 345g of light weight, the LUMIX S 14-28mm F4-5.6 MACRO boasts 0.25 (at 14mm) – 0.5x (at 28mm) macro capability. Taking advantage of the minimum focusing distance of 0.15m at entire zoom range, it can be used for close-up shots with beautiful bokeh. It is suitable for versatile situations including sweeping landscape shots in ultra-wide-angle of view.

The LUMIX S 14-28mm F4-5.6 MACRO is capable of smooth, silent operation to work with the camera’s high-speed, high-precision AF system with the sensor drive at max.240 fps. For the non-linear setting, focus is shifted with a variable amount according to the rotation speed of the focus ring. Focus is shifted with a designated amount according to the rotational quantum of the focus ring for the linear setting. Sensitivity (the amount of focus shift per rotational quantum) can be selected from 90 to 360 degrees to enable intended focus operation.1 The LUMIX S 14-28mm F4-5.6 MACRO also excels in video recording performance with a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing, which was a fatal problem of all interchangeable lenses designed for still image photography. Together with a micro-step aperture control for smooth exposure change, professional quality video can be recorded.

The LUMIX S 14-28mm F4-5.6 MACRO and LUMIX S 20-60mm F3.5-5.6 lens feature a common overall length and position of control parts to provide practical advantages in use. The weight and the center of the gravity of these lenses is similar, making it easy to exchange lenses quickly with minimum balance adjustment when the camera is on a gimbal.

The rugged dust/splash-resistant2 design withstands use under harsh conditions even at -10° Celsius for high mobility. A fluorine coating is applied to the front lens element to secure water/oil-repellency. An ND/PL filter with 77mm diameter can be attached.
Panasonic and L-Mount system alliance is committed to the development of L-Mount lenses for the further expansion of its lineup to fulfill the needs of customers.

The LUMIX S 14-28mm F4-5.6 MACRO will be available at valued channel partners for $799.99 at the end of March.

1. The maximum sensitivity differs by camera model, up to 1080 degrees on S5II, S5IIX and BS1H (as of January 2023).
2. Dust and Splash Resistant does not guarantee that damage will not occur if this lens is subjected to direct contact with dust and water.

Compact, Lightweight LUMIX S 35mm F1.8 (S-S35) for the LUMIX S Series

Panasonic is pleased to announce a new large-aperture wide fixed focal length lens, the LUMIX S 35mm F1.8 (S-S35).

The LUMIX S 35mm F1.8 comes as the fourth addition to the series of four fixed focal length, large-aperture F1.8 lenses based on the L-Mount system standard: 85mm (S-S85), 50mm (S-S50), 24mm (S-S24) and the new 35mm (S-S35). These lenses feature a common size and position of control parts to provide practical advantages in use, and the centre of gravity of these lenses is almost the same so that it is easy to exchange lenses quickly with minimum balance adjustment when the camera is on a gimbal. Common filters can also be used thanks to the same diameter, and the descriptive performance of these lenses is also consistent.

The LUMIX S 35mm F1.8 is comprised of eleven lens elements in nine groups including three aspherical lenses and three ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lenses. The use of three aspherical lenses realises both high descriptive performance and beautiful bokeh, which are common advantages to the series of all F1.8 lenses. The ED lenses effectively suppress chromatic aberration. The lens can be used for versatile situations including landscapes and snapshots, taking advantage of the natural angle of view, as well as portrait. It can also be used for close-up shots as a result of the minimum focusing distance of 0.24m.

The LUMIX S 35mm F1.8 is capable of smooth, silent operation to work with the camera’s AF system with the sensor drive at max.240 fps. For the non-linear setting, focus is shifted with a variable amount according to the rotation speed of the focus ring while focus is shifted with a designated amount according to the rotational quantum of the focus ring for the linear setting. Sensitivity (the amount of focus shift per rotational quantum) can be selected from 90 to 360 degrees by 30 degrees to enable intended focus operation. The LUMIX S 35mm F1.8 also excels in video recording performance with a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing, which was a fatal problem of all interchangeable lenses designed for still image photography. Together with a micro-step aperture control for smooth exposure change, professional quality video can be recorded.

With its approximately 295g compact size and light weight, the LUMIX S 35mm F1.8 features stunning mobility to fit the S5, LUMIX’s smallest full-frame model. The rugged dust/splash-resistant*1 design withstands use under harsh conditions even at 10 degrees Celsius below zero. The filter diameter is 67 mm, with a 9-blade circular aperture diaphragm.

The LUMIX S 35mm F1.8 will be available from mid-November at RRP £579.99 (IRE €659.99).

To further strengthen the S-Series lens system, development is underway for a new 18 mm ultra-wide angle fixed focal length lens with F1.8 large aperture. Alongside the development of new lenses, firmware update programs*2 are also available for the conventional S-R70200, S-E70200, S-R70300 and S-R24105 lenses to improve the stability of Image Stabiliser during video recording. In addition, image stabilisation performance of Dual I.S. 2 has been increased from 6.5 stops to 7.5 stops*3 for photoshoots when the S-R24105 is mounted on the LUMIX S1H, S1R or S1.

Panasonic and L-Mount system alliance is committed to further expansion of the L-Mount lens line-up, as well as the enhancement of performance, to fulfil the needs and maximise satisfaction of customers.

The LUMIX S-S35 is a qualifying product for the LUMIX PRO program. The LUMIX PRO program is designed to support LUMIX users when they need it the most, with a range of benefits available to members not only in their own countries but also in countries that they visit for work.
