Canon U.S.A., Inc. today announced that its parent company, Canon Inc. is celebrating that the company’s interchangeable-lens digital cameras (digital SLR and mirrorless cameras) have maintained the No. 1 share of the global market for 23 consecutive years from 2003 through 2025.

Canon’s EOS series of interchangeable‑lens digital cameras is an imaging system based on the basic concept of “Speed, Comfort, and High Image Quality,” for which the company has developed proprietary key components, including CMOS image sensors, the DIGIC image processors, and interchangeable lenses.

Putting together a wide‑ranging product lineup – from high‑performance flagship models that are highly trusted by professionals to entry‑level models that allow users to enjoy full‑scale shooting with easy operation, as well as a rich selection of 113 RF and EF lenses that enable a wealth of creative expression—Canon continues to support the diverse needs of customers.

During the dawn of digital SLR cameras, Canon introduced its breakthrough EOS Digital Rebel / EOS 300D / EOS Kiss Digital (product name varies by region) in September 2003. By launching this groundbreaking camera, which was competitively priced and featured a compact, lightweight design, Canon spurred growth in the digital SLR market, capturing the top share of the global market and heralding the age of digital SLR cameras.

Canon has since continued to introduce innovative products, including the professional model EOS-1D series, as well as the EOS 5D series, which played a leading role in popularizing video recording with digital SLR cameras.

In October 2018, the company launched the EOS R System, which further expands the boundaries of visual expression, followed by the full‑frame mirrorless EOS R5 – the world’s first camera to feature 8K video recording, released in July 2020, and the flagship EOS R1, released in November 2024, which combines advanced autofocus performance, high image quality, and high reliability to meet the demanding needs of professionals. Canon continues to pursue new possibilities in imaging expression.

In 2025, Canon expanded the EOS R System even further by releasing the APS‑C mirrorless EOS R50 V (May 2025), the first model in the new EOS V series that offers creative video functions, along with the full‑frame mirrorless EOS R6 Mark III (November 2025), which condenses excellent shooting performance into a single camera to meet the wide‑ranging needs of advanced amateur users.

In addition, Canon released sevenmodels of RF lenses in 2025. Through these continued efforts to enhance the EOS R System, Canon secured the No. 1 global market share for interchangeable‑lens digital cameras for the 23rd consecutive year since 2003. Going forward, Canon will continue to refine its proprietary imaging technologies while bringing fulfillment and excitement to people’s daily lives as well as promoting the spread of photo and video culture by providing products, services, and solutions that meet its customers’ diverse needs.

Nikon is pleased to announce the release of firmware version 1.10 for its full-frame sensor camera in the Z CINEMA series, the Nikon ZR.

Firmware version 1.10 for the ZR significantly extends the maximum length of recording time from 125 min. to 360 min. (6hrs)1, making it possible to shoot at events that require extended recording such as interviews, documentaries and more. The new update also supports timecode input over a wired connection via the external microphone/line input connector, making it easier to synchronise with audio recording devices and other cameras. In addition, a file-naming convention similar to that of RED cameras has been adopted, enabling more efficient data management, especially when shooting with multiple cameras.

A number of features that enhance usability have also been added, including a function that displays a warning line indicating the maximum brightness level in the brightness information display (histogram, wave-form monitor) when recording R3D NE videos in Log3G10, making exposure easier to control. The number of LUTs that can be imported from a memory card using Custom Setting [3D LUT] > [Import CUBE file] has been increased from 10 to a maximum of 50. This allows users to choose the LUT that will best match the final intent from a broader range of options while on location.

In addition, a [Power-on lamp energy saver] option has been added to the setup menu, allowing users to choose an option that keeps the power-on lamp lit at all times. This allows the user to check whether the camera is on or off at a glance, even when the monitor is closed, preventing unintentional drain on the battery while carrying or transporting the camera. Moreover, [Video file type] can now be set to [R3D NE 12-bit (R3D)] in the video recording menu even if the shooting mode is AUTO, making it possible for users to easily enjoy cinematic video recording with simple operation.

For the full list of updates visit the Nikon download centre: https://downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/index.html

Tenba, the New York-based brand synonymous with innovation in professional carry solutions since 1977, today announces the global debut of its most advanced camera carry solution yet – the Tenba Roadie v2 Collection.

This landmark launch introduces the world’s first rolling camera case with fully removable backpack straps, redefining how photographers, filmmakers and content creators move with their gear. The new Roadie v2 Spinner Seriesdelivers unmatched versatility, durability, and mobility — combining Tenba’s proven professional protection with the sleek functionality of modern travel luggage.

Built for Every Journey – From Airport Floors to Mountain Paths

Developed with extensive input from image-makers around the world, the Roadie v2 was designed to go wherever creativity takes you. Thanks to its optional removable backpack straps, this is the first rolling camera case that can be comfortably carried over sand, mud, cobbles or rough terrain — where traditional luggage simply can’t go. The straps attach or detach in under a minute, giving creators the freedom to roll or carry their kit as each location demands.

This single innovation turns the Roadie v2 into a genuine hybrid solution — a professional roller and a rugged backpack in one. It’s not just another camera bag; it’s a new way to move with your gear.

Rewriting the Rules of Camera Mobility

The Tenba design team spent years developing and refining the new Roadie v2 collection, bringing together the brand’s hallmark protection and usability in a form factor that’s faster, stronger, and smarter.

The Roadie v2 Spinners cases feature WideTrak wheels with CloudDrive technology (Patent Pending) — custom-designed by Tenba to extend slightly beyond the case’s front edge for greater balance and smoother handling. Even when heavily loaded, the Roadie v2 stays upright and stable, rolling more smoothly than most premium luggage brands. What’s more, the Roadie Roller 24 ensures easy rolling, even over the toughest terrain, thanks to its large-diameter, shock-absorbing wheels.

Quiet Confidence Meets Extreme Protection

Every detail of the Roadie v2 reflects Tenba’s reputation for intelligent engineering and quiet confidence. From the rigid corrugated polypropylene frame and water-repellent ballistic nylon exterior, to the hidden AirTag/TILE-compatible tracker pocket, the system is built for real-world resilience.

The standout of the series, the Roadie v2 Spinner Air Case, is shippable, checkable and virtually uncrushable – withstanding over 240kg (500lb) of pressure. It’s also the first Air Case of its kind to include a front laptop compartment, ensuring creators don’t have to compromise between protection and productivity.

“Roadie v2 takes the idea of a rolling camera case and completely reimagines it,” said a Tenba spokesperson. “We built it for working professionals who need to move confidently through airports, across cities, and onto locations — without advertising that they’re carrying valuable equipment. It’s discreet, adaptable, and ready for anything.”

Design That Works Harder

The collection’s shared features reflect Tenba’s commitment to real-world usability and long-term reliability:

Add-a-Bag Strap for hands-free transport of extra gear or reflectors

Drop-In Tripod Carrier for fast storage of stands or tripods

Removable Floor Pads to increase interior depth for longer lenses

Silver/Black Reversible Rain Cover for weather and heat protection

Premium Materials including YKK Woven-in-Tough zippers, 1680D ballistic nylon, and reinforced stitching throughout

Four main configurations are available — the Spinner 21 International, Spinner 21 Air Case, Spinner 22, and the larger Roadie Roller 24, which accommodates complete lighting or cinema setups for location work.

Optional Backpack Straps (£52 inc. VAT) and Luggage Liner Kits (£56–£59 inc. VAT) expand functionality for travel and mixed-use environments.

Leitz Cine enters the mirrorless lens market with the Leitz HEKTOR lenses, a brand new set of prime lenses designed specifically for cameras using mirrorless mounts. The lenses come in six focal lengths: 18, 25, 35, 50, 73 and 100mm, all T2.1. The user interchangeable mount options include E, L, RF and Z for maximum flexibility.

The Leitz HEKTOR lenses prioritize two things: image character and build quality. The look of HEKTOR has been curated by examining lenses from the past 100+ years of cinema and photography history. The look is inspired by classic M lenses from the 1930s and 1950s, as well as Petzval lenses, to combine pleasing characteristics like dynamic flare, field curvature and spherical aberration into something that is wholly unique while feeling familiar. By utilizing non-aspherical designs reminiscent of the 1980s/90s, these characteristics come into the lenses naturally. Modern touches include coatings that control veiling glare better than older lenses as well as significantly reduced chromatic aberration.

The Leitz Cine brand has always stood for a high standard of quality, and although these lenses were designed for less expensive camera systems than Leitz’s high-end glass, the same amount of care, consideration and attention to detail exists in the HEKTOR lenses. These lenses were designed in Germany and are manufactured and assembled in Germany by the same hands that build other Leitz lenses like SUMMILUX-C and HUGO. While more expensive than most mirrorless lenses, the Leitz HEKTOR series is built to last, to be easily serviced, and with available parts for a reliable, long-term investment.

The lenses are fully manual and feature an 80mm outer diameter. The 25-100mm lenses have a 77mm screw-in filter thread. Focus and iris ring locations match for quick lens changes with 120° and 49° rotations, respectively, making them easy to work with when operating and pulling focus. A nine-blade iris maintains a round shape through all stops for consistency in the out-of-focus areas.

“We spent a lot of time exploring and testing to get the character of these lenses right, to make them something that would be appealing to modern cinematographers but timeless in their beauty,” said managing director Rainer Hercher. “Too often lenses are designed to be as fast, clear and as inexpensive as possible without giving attention to the attributes that create a great, compelling image. In listening to our customers we heard them asking for something with soul, with emotion, something that could help elevate their work. The Leitz HEKTOR lenses are for them.”

The name HEKTOR is a reference to the original Leica Hektor lenses created in the 1930s by legendary lens designer Max Berek for Leica’s original screw mount 35mm cameras. Though not an adaptation of those lenses, the new HEKTOR series pays homage to the inspiration they provided with a silver anodized finish and the inclusion of a 73mm, an iconic lens in the original line.

More information can be found at: leitz-cine.com/product/hektor

In a world chasing the next trend, YASHICA brings something different: a way to slow down, shoot with intent, and still stand out online. The new YASHICA FX-D 100, FX-D 300 and FX-D S300 cameras are made for a generation raised on digital, but drawn to the look and feel of film. It’s nostalgia, reimagined for now.

Every creator knows the power of an image. But filters and apps can only do so much. The YASHICA FX-D series cameras give you the tools to make beautiful, lasting images without needing to fake it. With a classic film advance lever and six iconic film simulations built-in, the cameras bring back the feel of analogue without the mess of chemicals or the cost of rolls. From dreamy Ruby 60s to gritty MONO 400 black and white, you can switch moods on the fly and craft a visual voice that’s truly yours.

A YASHICA FX-D for every creative story

Whether you’re posting reels, snapping street portraits, or telling quiet stories from your everyday life, there’s a YASHICA FX-D camera that fits how you see the world. All three versions share the same heart, classic design and modern output. They shoot what you feel, not just what you see.

The YASHICA FX-D 100 is for those who want flexibility. It has optical zoom, autofocus/manual options, and feels like a traditional compact camera-with film soul and digital speed. Great for travel, casual vlogging, or quick snapshots that still feel curated. It features a 13MP Sony sensor and a 3x optical zoom lens with fast aperture for bright scenes.

The YASHICA FX-D 300 steps it up with a 50MP sensor, sharper low-light performance, and built-in optical image stabilization. This camera is made for creators who want crisp detail and cinematic depth without post-editing overload. It features a wide-angle 24mm f/1.8 lens with digital crop modes for 35mm, 50mm, and 60mm views.

The YASHICA FX-D S300 is the purist’s choice. It adds an electronic viewfinder to the FX-D 300 for that immersive, eye-to-camera connection. Think quiet concentration, not screen distractions. It’s perfect for focused storytelling, especially when you want to block out the noise. The FX-D S300 also offers 3-axis in-body stabilization and real-time autofocus for smooth, steady shooting.

Shoot and share made easy

With instant sharing through the free YASHICA app on your smartphone, a flip screen for self-recording, and sustainable digital storage (no wasted film), the FX-D series fits right into your creative process without dragging you away from it. Because sometimes, the best way forward is to look back. And sometimes, the best stories start when you take a special moment, one frame at a time.

Prices and availability

The new YASHICA FX-D 100, FX-D 300 will be available in September, and the FX-D S300 camera in October at YASHICA dealers in the UK and Ireland. The FX-D 100 has a recommend retail price including VAT of £244.99 / €279.99, the FX-D 300 £349.99 / €399.99 and the FX-D S300 sells for £434.99 / €499.99.

The new ‘Three-in-One Wireless Shooting Grip’ serves as a grip, a tripod, and a detachable remote commander, enhancing usability and convenience for greater freedom in capturing videos and still images.

Sony introduces the Wireless Shooting Grip/Tripod “GP-VPT3” and Remote Commander “RMT-VP2” featuring Bluetooth® wireless technology compatible with Alpha™ Series and Vlog Camera Series. The “GP-VPT3” supports stable handheld shooting with a grip design optimised for ease of use and flexible shooting angles, accommodating cameras weighing up to 1.5 kgii. The grip can be used as a tripod and the remote commander can be detached and used as a remote control.

The ergonomically designed grip allows handheld shooting while performing key camera operations, such as zoom and focus, with one hand, regardless of dominant hand, for both still images and videos. The head mechanism allows for one-touch switching between self-portrait and outward shooting, and the tilt mechanism enables free angle adjustment.

The detachable remote commander is equipped with a MOVIE button, Zoom/Focus button, and C1 (Custom) button, allowing one-handed operation. This allows shutter operation from a distance so the photographer can be included in group photos and reduces camera shake in low-light conditions. The remote commander connects to Sony cameras and Xperia™ smartphones with a wireless communication range of approximately 10 miii. The grip and remote commander connect to the main unit without cables or receivers, maintaining dust and moisture proof performance during camera connection.iv

The remote commander RMT-VP2 is also available for purchase separately.

Pricing and Availability

The GP-VPT3 will be available in June 2025 for approximately €145/£120 and the RMT-VP2 for approximately €85/£75.
