Special Achievement Award 2016
Our special achievement award, as in previous years, has been nominated by
you, the members and Trade. How do you describe this couple? In my opinion they
are the most amazing couple on this Planet, not just for what they have done for
the Photographic Industry which has been out of this world but what they have
been able to do to help over 100 children have a better life. This year they
celebrate 30 years of Photo Training Overseas which I know 1,000s of
photographers have learnt from.
They got married in 1966. Worked together in the 70's at Studio M then bought the business as a husband and wife team covering wedding photography and portrait photography throughout Stockport, Cheshire and the North West, they won many prestigious awards both locally and nationally and in fact went onto win the Kodak National Wedding Photographer of the Year, they then went onto become the Portraits in uniforms National champions. As highly regarded leaders in their field they went onto train other wedding and portrait photographers, throughout the UK and overseas, always a great sharing couple it was no surprise to family and friends when later Glenys decided to become a full-time Foster Carer. Together George and Glenys with the support of their three adult children have fostered over 100 children during the past 20 years.
John Cohen from FUJIFILM UK Limited says "I've known George and Glenys for my entire career in this industry and I can't remember a single instant when they haven't been helping someone: whether it's somebody starting photography as a profession, somebody needing genuine support or of course a child in desperate need of care through Glenys' amazing fostering work, their door is always open."
